I was stunned to hear about the passing of former EMC Board member, Heather Armstrong. I first met Heather at a screening of No Woman, No Cry in Salt Lake City in 2011 and invited her to join me on a trip to Bangladesh. She said “yes!” without a beat. Then, I asked her if she would run a marathon with me a few months later and she said “yes” again. Heather continued to accept every challenge and opportunity for nearly a decade. She was a member of our Board from 2012 to 2020 and traveled to every country EMC works in from Tanzania to Haiti to several states across the U.S. in support of our mission. She was a devoted mother who loved her two children fiercely.
