“Taisaku ikebana” by Haruko Gyokushun Takeichi and group greets you at the beginning of “Sam Francis and Japan: Emptiness Overflowing” ↑

Sam Francis’s relationship with @ikebana.sogetsu began 67 years ago, when founding headmaster Sofu Teshigahara invited Francis to Japan and commissioned the Tokyo Mural for Sogetsu’s Headquarters. This relationship comes full circle through our partnership with the @sam_francis_foundation and @ikebana.sogetsu.la to present the work of four local ikebana masters.
