Below, she details her creative process and shares common themes found in her work. “There is a motif of escapism in my works. I enjoy depicting moments of magic in our daily routine, but I also illustrate fantastical scenes as metaphors or as silver linings for real-life struggles. Like many artists, I find the strongest inspiration comes from real-life experiences. My most vivid scenes manifest while I’m running. Every day, I jog along the pier in Manhattan and sit by the water to think. This hour-or-two window is the time I get to use my brain 100 percent for myself — whether it’s to organize my thoughts, process emotions or let my imagination run wild (no pun intended).”
