What I learned from my little sister’s Tytyana Miller death on this day, May 27th of last year is that there’s always a silver lining and people aren’t their mistakes or addiction.

My character has been attacked many times during this grieving process and that’s ok, because the simple truth is, I found all my answers in being STILL and not explaining. My sister death didn’t make me weaker, but stronger. I was never depressed, I just became more patient and selective. Although its taboo in my household, I was introduced to therapy way before it was ever spoken about by my 8th grade literature teacher, after he realized I witnessed my two first cousins die at a young age.

Although I’m a man of high faith and God, I wouldn’t have the same positive mental health without the education and simple self care tips from therapy. James 2:26

Anybody who’s truly an advocate for mental health knows that any addiction is a coping mechanism for trauma. Through my studies, and personal experiences, I’ve learned that we can always do more, but it’ll take an even more selfless and emotionally available version of oneself. That’s a challenge that most of us aren’t up for and rightfully so.

The sacrifice of saving a life is willing to sacrifice yours. Metamorphosis! This includes having the humbleness to RE LEARN, the GRACEFULNESS to not judge one through their storm, and the willingness to CHANGE.

Gabor Maté wrote, “addiction isn’t the problem it’s the solution to the problem”. Finding the PROBLEM, is the only way we’ll have any chance/opportunity to save lives in the future.

Let this video be a reminder, that even on your best day, someone is having their worst day, so please be gentle.

Ps: My silver lining, we both had kids, so they’ll get to grow up together like we did and because of you, this family may actually break those generational curses. Big brudda loves ya. 🕊 #ForTyty
