Over to you Alan... + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + David Bowie- Stardust Memories 3rd July 1973 I was 14 years old and had been to a couple of Bowie gigs including The Rainbow gigs in 1972 and the Earl’s Court Aladdin Sane tour opener. Four friends and I had booked for his return gig there which was changed to two nights at The Hammersmith Odeon in July due to the sound problems that had been encountered. Although at Earl’s Court I was lucky enough to have had a seat near the front of the stage and had a great evening! So myself and my 4 friends ended up attending the July 3rd gig little knowing what a legendary night it would become! We all lived in North London so my Dad (who was a London black cab driver) dropped us off and said he would be waiting after the show to pick us up for the journey home. As the five of us approached the venue we saw Angie Bowie standing near the entrance talking to fans and signing autographs. We excitedly went up to her and she offered me a lick of her orange lolly which I accepted of course! She also signed our programmes. What a great start to the night! The gig was amazing and when the soundtrack was finally released in 1983, I could hear the loud whistle that I did during the opening chords of Moonage Daydream! Thrilling! We were all stunned and upset at the climax of the gig when Bowie announced that it was the last show and everyone was screaming, “No! No!” and many were crying all around us. But that wasn’t the end of the night for us. My Dad was waiting to pick us up as promised and as we pulled away we saw Angie Bowie, Sue Fussey and some others leaving in a limo.
