The ancient rock fortress Sigiriya //
Sigiriya or Sinhagiri is a massive landmark at the middle of Sri Lanka. I went there at the sunset time but didn’t get to the top because I was kinda afraid to go up and had to go down when it’s dark. There are approx 1200 steps of stairs to go to the top. I climbed until The last stairs before the top as you can see on the 6th slide. It looks like a lion’s gate.
The name of this place is derived from this structure; Sīnhāgiri, the Lion Rock (an etymology similar to Sinhapura, the Sanskrit name of Singapore, the Lion City).
It was used as a Buddhist monastery until the 14th century. Sigiriya today is a UNESCO listed World Heritage Site. It is one of the best preserved examples of ancient urban planning.
Truly one of the best ancient landmark I’ve seen in my life. I felt like Short Round of Dr Jones at that moment lmao.
