Dolphins are critical to keeping ecosystems in balance. When dolphin populations are healthy, so is our ocean. But in Jeju Island, South Korea, habitat-destroying development projects, overtourism and naval bases are threatening these marine mammals.
The new Patagonia Films documentary short "Hot Pink Dolphins" follows three members of a grassroots organization working to return captive dolphins to the wild and create a marine protected area in the waters of Jeju Island. Blending K-pop tunes, punk rock aesthetics and grunge design, they remind us that the most powerful environmental movements come from the heart.
