That means that I won’t be posting about my tv show for a while… but that doesn’t diminish the overwhelming pride I have for it. It breaks my heart to not be able to celebrate everyone’s amazing work on WARRIOR in the coming weeks. That being said: Actors are artists, but we are also LABOR. The studio execs may cut the checks - but what they CAN’T do is create something from nothing on a blank page, like writers do. They can not breathe life and humanity into characters like the actors do. That is not only our ART, but it is our WORK. Right now, what the writers & actors are fighting for is to be properly valued for our WORK. Our creativity. Our artistry. Our LABOR. It is our labor, born of our artistry, that makes those execs money (a lot of it). And A.I. is amazing, but it can not replace us, nor should it. My fellow professional artists understand this. For those of you who are not, I ask this: If you have ever laughed, cried, screamed, “eagerly awaited the next episode of” or “mourned the series finale of” a tv show, then you recognize the value of our LABOR, and you understand the fight.
