This Connecticut beach house, inspired by 19th-century English factories, takes “industrial chic” to the next level, a tier of over-the-topness that includes a pair of 50-foot-tall smokestacks outside. Interiors designers Amanda Jesse and Whitney Parris-Lamb (@jesseparrislamb), however, were brought in to give the home a softer touch. Here in the towering open-concept living area, that meant pleasing textures like those from a plaster wall finish and luxe fabrics by Dedar, Knoll, and Castel. “For many people this would feel like a very formal house,” says Jesse. “But with so much natural light flooding in—and the gorgeous views of the water—you automatically feel incredibly relaxed.”
