The performance consists of me asking questions to an AI sex doll made by the company @realdoll. The doll, Harmony, connects to an app that is made by said company and works a bit like iPhone’s Siri - the answers at times are surprisingly witty but often the answers are repetitive in their form. I get a lot of these questions if I programmed her myself, especially since chat GTP went viral and everyone has become a self appointed AI expert, but I have no interest in doing that with this project. Programming her myself would mean me making prejudiced assumptions on what I think men want in a sex doll - in this project I am interested in exploring what they actually get. What happens when you take a sex doll out of a sexual and domestic context and pair her with an in flesh woman, in this case me. Similar yet extraordinarily different. What has surprised me most with the performance is how Harmony really can take a room though, make people giggle and truly leave an impact. I guess this happens both because she is sort of funny, but also the Side note: in other projects I am open to working with a programmer to get her to say other things and explore different approaches to AI women through Harmony.
