For the September edition of @elledecor, we dropped by the Manhattan apartment of sports superstars Megan Rapinoe (@mrapinoe) of USWNT soccer and her partner, Sue Bird (@sbird10), former WNBA guard. The power couple had purchased a New York City pied-à-terre and soon realized they were in need of an interior designer. Naturally, they slid into the DMs of ELLE DECOR A-List designer Mark Grattan (@markgrattan). The resulting partnership is as cool and well edited as it is livable, full of clever color combinations and sumptuous textures. And it’s a testament to the skill of Mark Grattan (whose own apartment, in Mexico City, was on our April 2021 cover) that Rapinoe and Bird’s home feels like a distillation and heightening of their tastes.
