#ThrowbackThursday for an August Breastfeeding Awareness Month support post! I breastfed my kiddo for 2 1/2 years, but getting it to works for us was MASSIVELY difficult. It was so painful initially, and she couldn't really latch on one side and she had this weird harness on for her hip dysplasia, so it made it really hard to get her in position, and I couldn't produce a lot of milk, so I had to pump in addition every few hours to get my supply up which, again, was painful! I almost quit many times that first month, it is not necessarily an automatic thing for it to work for your body which I had NO IDEA! (Maybe because I was older? I dunno! No one tells you ANYTHING ABOUT THIS STUFF, LADIES!) I got experts help me along the way, and there was lots of tears and pain until one day, about 4 weeks in, my kiddo and I were able to work it out. (And yes, some people can't and thats ok too! Fed is best!)

Also it is SO HARD to nurse and work!! I remember crouching under many a folding table in an abandoned office room with an electric pump while I was on a work trip at a convention or on set, literally milking myself lol. And pumps don't really 100% work the same as really nursing, so I got a lot of clogged boobs and ducts etc. ANYWAY ITS REALLY CHALLENGING IN MODERN DAY TO NURSE! So if you see any woman with that pump in a break room, give her a nod of acknowledgement please.

But also know it is pretty amazing to be able to feed your baby with your body. I definitely cherish the times with my kid nursing with her screaming "O' SIDE MAMA" in the middle of the night. And it did felt like a superpower to squirt milk out of my tatas, let's be real.

Anyway just know that whatever you choose or are able to do with your kid, whatever works to feed that baby is great! This is what I chose to try to make work. And I'm glad it succeeded.
