They merged beaded catchphrases featuring Bisaya and Tagalog slangs; and images from English literature, Filipino pop culture, and kitsch (considered to be in poor taste because of excessive garishness or sentimentality, but sometimes appreciated in an ironic or knowing way) with fine, vintage textiles, lacework, and classical imagery. The meticulous assemblage’s construction took two years. The duo cleverly used cross references between historic iconography like Marie Antoinette and painted cherubs, and popular culture elements such as Harajuku girls, Disney's Dumbo, and punk. This mirrors the wide and evolving design vocabulary of the Philippine terno. Visit our official Facebook Page for more photos. Missed the livestream?
