Måneskin is giving Gen Z a taste of a genre that might have already taken its final breath: rock ’n’ roll.
If you want to know whether you like Måneskin — the Italian sensation with the Danish name pronounced MOAN-eh-skin — you can fire up the internet and add to the more than nine billion streams that Sony Music claims the band has accumulated across Spotify, YouTube and other streaming services. The Italian group has been a global phenomenon — perhaps becoming the biggest Italian rock band of all time — since winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 2021. As for whether Måneskin is good, “de gustibus non est disputandum,” as Italians have once said: In matters of taste, there can be no arguments. One has to wonder: Is Måneskin the last rock band?
