New Photo Site! 📸It has taken me too many months to get this site together. It’s hard to compile 25 years of images into a cohesive edit. It’s made me rethink about what makes an image worth sharing. Subject, narrative, environment are all things I consider. And then there are the people who say to show the pics with the most famous and ‘ relevant’ subjects. What makes someone ‘ relevant’ ?
In my opinion it’s because they stand for something valuable, they are part of a cultural conversation in a meaningful way. But I’m aware that ‘ relevant’ is a polite way of saying famous. Show the famous people, but famous now, not then . Friends , I just can’t edit my work based on this criteria which I have been advised to do by a handful of photo agents .
I started being a photographer‘ many years ago as a way to get behind the camera and tell stories instead of being the one in the story . Whether I’m photographing someone or interviewing them, I’m interested in people and who they truly are. I hope my photos continue to center that and not just who’s on Page six this week . This site is some of the greatest hits, I’m adding to it daily and a DIARY of images I took this summer that I love. I’ve decided to do more of what I love & taking photos makes my heart happy.
