A collection of feathers, individually brought home for my son from my travels. It’s become a fun ritual, seeing his interest light up and as we examine the follicles and talk about what makes it unique before placing it in a big jar with the others.

Truth be told, it’s evolved into this semi-obsessive thing for me while out shooting, pedantically looking around on the ground to find a new feather for him to stow away carefully to bring home. Most of the time I don’t know the species, they’re simply discarded little treasures for my son.

A couple months back I took the time to photograph a small handful, but hope to shoot them all someday in unique lighting. Feels like a good snow day activity, or just a long term procrastination. For me, the most important part is sharing this time and exchanged conversation with my favorite little guy. 🪶
