Magnum Photosさんのインスタグラム写真 - (Magnum PhotosInstagram)「Hamas launched a large-scale attack against Israel from the Gaza Strip on Saturday, October 7, a day after the 50th anniversary of the start of the Yom Kippur War, also known as the 1973 Arab-Israeli War.⁠ ⁠ On October 6, 1973, Egypt and Syria launched a surprise attack on Israeli positions in the Sinai Peninsula and Golan Heights. Magnum photographers @michabaram.archive, @leonardfreed, @abbas.photos and Bruno Barbey closely documented the ensuing 19-day armed conflict between Israel and a coalition of Arab states led by Egypt and Syria.⁠ ⁠ Hamas began this weekend’s attack with a barrage of rockets while militants crossed the border into Israel, killing and taking civilians and soldiers hostage. Israel has since formally declared war, responding with heavy airstrikes and cutting off electricity in Gaza.
