Narrated by that famous voice this series has come to define wildlife film making with each series pushing the limits of cinematography and technology. This series is no exception. Five years in the making it is the most ambitious yet, featuring jaw dropping scenes of animal behaviour in the wild. Naturally this series focuses on a new story, humans devastating impact on the natural world. It was said last night that almost all the wild animals featured are rarer now than they were in the first season. A deeply sad state of affairs. Watching the episodes sat behind Sir David last night I couldn’t help but shed a tear. I wondered if in the future this is how our children will interact with the natural world; just an image projected onto the walls of an art gallery. We have so much beauty and abundance around us. There is so much to save. So many individual beings beyond our species - all of them the miraculous result of millions of years of evolution. Whether we like it or not their future now lies in our hands. It’s so easy to feel powerless, to disassociate or just look the other way but we don’t have that luxury anymore.
