Hey! sooooooo you already know VIRGINIA is for lovers! But did you know it also has some VERY unusual laws and some *hugely* important elections next month? EARLY VOTING has already begun in Virginia’s state legislative elections, which will determine SOOOOOOO MUCH - including the future of reproductive rights, LGBTQ equality, inclusive education, climate change legislation, and more.

😍TODAY, 10/16, is the deadline to register to vote in this year’s elections, which also include consequential down-ballot races for positions on school and county board. We teamed up with Kerry Washington to chat with activists and voters from Virginia to learn more about the state’s more — er, unusual — government choices (yes, 🥛 really is the state beverage) and why there are no off years when it comes to democracy.
