Video by @bertiegregory | A pod of wave-washing killer whales, or orcas, hunt three crabeater seals at once. There are only about a hundred of these special killer whales in Antarctica. We humans often wonder just how smart wild animals are. Well, these killer whales have learned that by using teamwork as a family group and water as a tool, they can create powerful waves to access seals that would otherwise be out of reach. Every single time we saw them hunt, their tactics were different and the types of waves they created were different. Their behavior was artful, not instinctive. This technique that they have mastered is like that of a professional athlete who masters a sport over decades of training.
