Urban Light had some competition last night✨
The world of art, film, and fashion came together for our 12th annual Art+Film Gala, presented by @グッチ and co-chaired by LACMA trustees Eva Chow and Leonardo DiCaprio with Gucci Creative Director Sabato De Sarno as the Gala Host Committee Chair. Our Director, Michael Govan, described honorees, filmmaker David Fincher and artist Judy Baca, as “powerful storytellers whose bodies of work offer vital commentary on history and human nature.”
Baca spotlighted her many collaborators, saying, “There are hundreds, probably thousands, of people with me on the stage tonight accepting with deep gratitude this acknowledgment of our work, often against all odds, to remember our stories and paint them on the walls of our communities around the nation and the world.”
Of his own medium, Fincher said, “I suppose I’ve never looked at directing as artistic because it required so many actual artists just to get through a given day. I am grateful for my inclusion this evening, standing next to Judy.”
We’re so grateful for last night’s continued support of our efforts to make film more central to the museum’s curatorial programming, as well as our broader mission.
