For multicolor weaving, a rapier loom was used instead of a shuttle loom to express the deep colors in the fabric. While typical wool fabric is finished by washing and fulling it to provide its unique texture and fullness, we omitted the fulling so that the jacket would lack softness and be oil-free to achieve a classic look reminiscent of the early 1900s. The design features a relaxed silhouette, voluminous double sleeves, and a compact single-rib collar like they use in baseball. While there is no padding, we used high-density taffeta lining for the backing to provide wind protection.
