This year’s Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève for Artistic Crafts has been awarded to Piaget’s Altiplano Undulata Watch.

A river of precious gold and stones flows across the dial face like water, in blue, green, and iridescent hues—French artist Rose Saneuil creates a miniature marquetry of volume, texture, and colors using straw, parchment, sycamore, leather, and elytron, all set into the ultra-thin flying tourbillon carriage. Surrounded by brilliant-cut diamonds, this creation is a veritable signature of Piaget’s incredible savoir-faire.
