There are so many incredible letters in the #BlackLoveLetters collection, and I’m honored to narrate this excerpt of “To Dimples” by Joel Castón and share it with you here.

Joel Castón became the first currently incarcerated person to be elected to public office in DC after serving 27 years and being released in 2021. He wrote this love letter to Dimples, a former girlfriend who started as his pen pal, during some of his most difficult moments navigating the isolation and invisibility that come with incarceration.
