Manish Arora (@manisharorafashion), the Paris-based fashion designer known for collections lavishly ornamented with psychedelic flair, has spent the last week fine-tuning the menu for Diwali Mela, a takeover starting today as a nod to the festival of light that is considered India’s most important holiday. Although the main celebrations culminate on Sunday, the pop-up will run through November 30. Together with Desi Road’s owner Stéphanie de Saint-Simon and chef Ghosh Gobinda, Arora is showcasing a variety of dishes from his 2021 cookbook, We Are Family, comprised of recipes from 26 relatives in India—his mother, aunties, cousins—all women.
