Chinese Pres. Xi Jinping signaled that China will send new pandas to the U.S., calling them “envoys of friendship between the Chinese and American peoples.”

The gesture came at the end of a meeting that Pres. Xi and Pres. Biden held for the first time in about a year, pledging to try to reduce tensions between the two nations. Xi did not share additional details, but appeared to suggest the next pair of pandas are most likely to come to California.
