With #Rustin, Colman Domingo and director George C. Wolfe aim to spotlight the life and work of the civil rights activist who was often sidelined within the movement he helped shape.

Depicting Rustin as a complete person—including the complicated aspects of his sexuality—was essential to Wolfe: “He claimed all of who he was.”

For Domingo, the fact that a film about a queer Black man is both directed by and stars Black men in the LGBTQ+ community is crucial. “I don’t have to reach so far outside of my experience," he explains. "I can pull from within.” Read more about the new film at the link in our bio.
