According to law enforcement sources cited by the Associated Press, CNN and ABC News, the shooter was Anthony Polito, 67. Per his LinkedIn profile, Polito described himself as a “semi-retired university professor,” who previously worked at East Carolina University from 2001 to 2017. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Sheriff Kevin McMahill said Wednesday evening that three people were killed in the shooting, which began just before noon in the school’s Beam Hall, the business school building. Police also said there were reports of shots fired at the Student Union, which is directly across from Beam.
