Yes, the same fears I had when my having my first child still exist — raising black children in this world, the staggering injustices for black mothers in healthcare, the climate and status of our planet, passing down generational trauma, etc. However, this time fear is not leading my perspective. I’m leading with gratitude. I’m leading with forgiveness for myself and others. I’m leading with compassion in every thread of life. These may sound like simple concepts, but when you’re so accustomed to a life/culture of pain, loss, or suffering, grasping these concepts become lifelong milestones.
