Actor Kim Soo-hyun and actress Jun Ji-hyun took home top honors in the 2014 Seoul International Drama Awards for best Korean actor and actress, respectively.
The two received the highest score in an online poll conducted from July 14-Aug. 3, the award organizing committee said Monday.
The award ceremony will be held at the National Theater of Korea in Seoul, Sept. 4, according to the committee.
Kim and Jun also earned the highest scores in a separate poll conducted among Korean drama experts and entertainment industry insiders.
The committee said SBS TV’s “My Love from the Star” and “The Heirs” were designated as the best Korean TV dramas, while “My Destiny,” the title song of “My Love from the Star,” was selected as the best Korean soundtrack.
The Seoul International Drama Awards had its inaugural event in 2006 with the goal of promoting Korean dramas and other entertainment TV programs worldwide. This year, 209 dramas from 50 countries competed to be included among the 24 finalists.
The committee said it is in the process of carrying out a last-minute evaluation to select the three best dramas, one each from the three categories of “short-term” (comprised of less than three episodes), “mini-series” (comprise of three to 24 episodes) and “long-term” dramas (comprised of 24 episodes). It is also making preparations to select the best director, screenwriter, actor and actress.
Among Korean candidates are screenwriters Park Hye-ryeon and Park Hyun-min, and actresses Kim Hee-ae and Ha Ji-won.
