1989년은 전 세계 리더들이 모여 유엔아동권리협약을 비준한 해입니다. 지난 30년 간 어린이의 권리는 변하지 않았고, 권리에는 유효기간도 없습니다. 그러나 유년 시절은 변했습니다. 2019년의 유년 시절은 1989년의 유년 시절과 매우 달라졌습니다. 앞으로 또 다른 30년 뒤에도 무척 달라질 것입니다. 2019년은 매우 특별한 해입니다. 전 세계 어린이가 자신의 권리를 옹호하고 있습니다. 동아시아태평양지역에서 우리는 모든 어린이가 권리를 가질 수 있도록 함께 일해야 합니다.
As you all know, 1989 was the year that global leaders made a promise to the world’s children with an international agreement(UNCRC) on childhood. Thirty years on, child rights have not changed, they have no expiry date. But childhood has changed. Childhood in 2019 looks very different from childhood in 1989. And it will look very different again in another 30 years. 2019 is a special year, children around the world are standing up for their rights. In East Asia and Pacific, we must work together and demand that every child, has every right.
