“If I wanted to leave, I should have left a month ago. But I have no intention of leaving,” says @MollyJongFast, journalist and New York City resident of 41 years. Just this past week, Deborah Birx, the response coordinator for the White House task force on coronavirus, said that 60 percent of all the new cases in the United States are coming out of the New York City metro area. Everyone who was in New York has been advised to self-quarantine for 14 days to ensure the virus doesn’t spread to others no matter where they have gone. Though Jong-Fast, she says, isn’t going anywhere. “I grew up in New York, both my parents both grew up in New York. My children are growing up in New York. This is not a phase for us; it’s a pathology.” At the link in our bio, Jong-Fast explains why, unlike those who have gone to parents or friends or summer houses, she has no plans of leaving the only place she’s ever lived.
