Recently I’ve been learning more about Permaculture and how to grow food. 🙋🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️ Living in a city, I never really thought about where my food comes from or the impact of my lifestyle choices. So much of what we do in cities is separated from the process behind it. Until recently, I thought Permaculture was just a method of planting vegetables, a bit like organic gardening. However I’m starting to understand that it is so much more, and in fact may hold the solutions to many of the environmental problems we face today.

Simply put, Permaculture is a set of design principles and a framework for how we can live our lives in a more harmonious way. It is a method of systems thinking that includes how we use resources, food, energy and shelter and it can be practiced by anyone, anywhere. The fundamental idea behind Permaculture is to look to nature as a guide, and ask how we can work with the natural world rather than against it to build stronger and more resilient communities.
