One of those emotions was hurt and the other, anger, angry of all the injustice and hate our communities have been experiencing. After work I laid down and looked up, searching for answers. Thought to myself, how do we move forward? What is it going to look like to fight this dragon together? The movement hasn't been successful in addressing our many differences--intersectionality. In order to build bridges we have to learn how to honor peoples otherness in ways that allow us to be changed by embracing that otherness rather than punishing others for their difference. We should use our beautiful difference as strength. Community work-bridging-is the work of opening up to our prejudices, to loosen our borders, to risk being wounded--the work of leaving our home is to nurture growth. Starting that difficult conversation in a space that may not be our home but has the potential to bridge.... for me, the risk of leaving home, that comfort, is scary, but necessary...after laying there I looked at my phone and was blessed with my friends texts on next plan of action to unify and organize our community.
