As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic schools and universities all over the world are closed. In fact, over 1.53 billion learners have had their education disrupted, 743 million of whom are girls. While many of us can easily adapt to e-learning at home, not everyone has so much privilege. In certain parts of the world, there is very limited access to the internet and tech devices like computers and phones. In low and middle-income countries, surveys show that boys are 1.5 times more likely to own a phone than girls and 1.8 times more likely to own a smartphone that can access the internet.
