ナショナルジオグラフィックさんのインスタグラム写真 - (ナショナルジオグラフィックInstagram)「Photo by @stephenwilkes / In November 2019 I traveled to the Canadian Arctic to capture a "Day To Night" image of the polar bears in Churchill, as they began their journey across a frozen Hudson Bay. We photographed from a tundra buggy over the course of 36 hours in extreme cold conditions. Fortunately, I was able to photograph through a window, with just the front of my lens exposed. In the Day to Night series, epic landscapes are portrayed from a fixed camera angle, capturing fleeting moments of humanity and nature as light passes in front of the lens over the course of a full day. A select group of these images are blended into a single composite. This is one of the most challenging, Day to Night photographs I have created. Expeditions can sometimes last for days without seeing a polar bear, as the bears are very adept at camouflaging themselves against the snow. Plus, once the bay freezes, the bears immediately begin to cross it in search of food. We were fortunate to catch the final moments of the freeze and see the few bears remaining, making their way across. The number of bears we saw was much less than in previous years, and the data is now correlating to the fact that warmer air and the rise in water temperature mean that less ice is being created—a combination with a direct impact on the survival of this species. I'm excited to announce that with the generous support of @insidenatgeo and in collaboration with @cangeo I will be documenting endangered species and habitats in Canada over the next few years. So stay tuned! To see more from my travels near and far, follow me @stephenwilkes. #insidenatgeo #cangeo #daytonight」11月11日 2時43分 - natgeo
