There’s a grey area in sustainability...a big one. Lowering your own environmental impact isn’t exactly black and white. However, never underestimate the power of your small actions.

Yes it sounds cliché but let’s break it down:

This holiday if you can make a personal policy, just one, for example not to use plastic bottles for soap, water and other products in your life, watch how far this habit can spread…

Our children are constantly learning from us and watching how we treat the Planet. If they see us making these conscious choices, it’s a habit we can pass onto them. It’s a habit we can tell friends and family about that could inspire them to make changes in their own lives. It’s a habit we could share on social media to encourage others to make their own changes.

These small changes can eventually end up being the reason consumers start to demand higher sustainability standards from businesses. In fact I think this is already happening. There’s already a huge increase in conscious consumption and we’re seeing brands being held to account. We’re lucky to be living in a time where sustainability is fast becoming a vital part of many people’s purchasing decisions.

So over your lifetime your one personal policy can inspire the behaviour of many.

Pick something this month and try it. Is there one change you would like to make? Please share some ideas in comments.

Speaking of habits...🚭!
