As someone who’s started challenges in the past and always fell off and quit before it was over I’m so proud of myself for sticking this one through! I’ve always had the ‘all or nothing’ attitude with being healthy and would beat myself up when I’d have a slip up and only see that ‘I failed.’ I’ve always been my own worst critic and this ‘cultivate compassion’ challenge really spoke to me. Not only do we need to show compassion out in the world, but we need to cultivate compassion for ourselves. I’ve always struggled with this and after having my first baby 14 months ago it got worse. I didn’t have an easy pregnancy, delivery, or recovery. I was so worried about not being a good mom, but still managed to forget to care for myself because I was so focused on my son and husband. I ended up struggling with depression and just was in a terrible place; physically, mentally, and emotionally. I had zero self respect and love left for myself. I don’t know what clicked with me, but one day I just woke up and decided enough was enough. I was so happy to see that this Fit Girl’s Guide challenge was less than a week away from starting so I decided to give it a go again. I can’t say I’ve been perfect this challenge, but I didn’t quit, I finished strong!
