When I was a child, I believed my poetry defined me. I would write for hours, every night, filling up notebook after notebook.
When I was 18, I knew that music was my calling. Sharing my lullabies with the world was the only thing that mattered.
I’ve never stopped searching for my purpose. I’ve always been looking for my reason.
Maybe it’s because I never really felt whole.
Then on a warm May night...I found my missing piece.
It wasn’t the stanzas, or the verses. It wasn’t the concerts or plaques.
It was you.
Above all else, I am your mama.
When you became mine,
I finally became me.
