If you do your lateral raises like this… try change to seated Poliquin raise.
Too often the traps take over at the top of the movement, especially when standing and swinging the weight. To counter that sit down. This will force you to go slow maintaining form.
Starting with the dumbbells at a 90° angle raise the weight without lifting your traps. Proceed to straighten your arms and slowly lower the weight!
