This is how One imprisons the entire nation, robbing it of the very idea of a future, any hope for a safe existing from tyrannical regime imposed by Putin and his money hungry cronies. Today Russia was convicted to a strict regime penal colony. Every single one of us is about to serve a very cruel sentence.
Earlier today Alexey Navalny, Russian opposition leader and anti-corruption activist, has been given 9 (!!!!!) years in a strict regime penal colony based on absurd charges in court hearing so surrealistic, it’d make even Luis Buñuel cringe. The judge, who coincidentally got promoted just a few days ago, refused to accept statement withdrawals from witnesses who during court hearing stressed having no claims against Navalny. Stating that said statements were made under ‘pressure’ and in one case - direct threats.
I won’t say ‘unfair’. I won’t say that I’m angry. I won’t sing praises to Navalny. None of it is necessary. All of it is obvious. At this very moment Ukraine is fighting a war for their freedom. Putin is fighting a war for their freedom too. He cannot stand the very idea that a country he considers his own grew to be independent, free, that it raised more incredible and inspiring individuals than Russia has had in I don’t know how long, people who dream and make their own choices. Ukrainian people say that living under Putin regime is death. I agree.
I refuse to make excuses for Russian army and every single one of those in power who continue to scream on every corner ‘Russia must fight!’ Those people are murderers and terrorists. Their demands are inhuman and abhorrent. Life for them has no value, therefore their own life is worthless. I detest to be associated with their kind. We are, in the end, our people. I condemn those people. I did not choose them. I don’t want them to speak on my behalf.
Navalny’s sentence is a life sentence. But who’s life? Putin or his? I refuse to mourn today. I refuse to mourn Navalny’s conviction. Whoever you are, wherever you are, please share this #FreeNavalny #FreeNavalnyNow #freedomtonavalny European governments already refuse to accept Navalny’s sentence. Please, don’t be indifferent.
