This curious duo is a pair of spotted hyena @sunsetzoomhk. In the wild, hyenas live in female- dominated clans that can have up to 70 members. Within each clan, all females are dominant to all males and will remain with the clan they were born into for their entire lives. In contrast, males will move into different clans and slowly move up through the social rank as older males die. To gain favor with the dominant females, males will follow different individuals around for days or weeks until a strong relationship is established.
