Chloé Creative Director @GabrielaHearst attended the 2023 Met Gala with guests @オリヴィア・ワイルド, @maudeapatow and @ヴァネッサ・カービー.

Gabriela Hearst wore a black deadstock velvet bustier column dress with a scooped back and embroideries of deadstock multicoloured sequins and strass and tubular beads forming an image of an electric guitar.

The event christened the landmark @metcostumeinstitute exhibition ‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty’ and, in honour of the occasion, Gabriela, Olivia and Maude wore bespoke Chloé gowns inspired, respectively, by the ‘Aurelien’ and ‘Angkor’ dresses and a shirt dress Karl Lagerfeld created for the Maison in the 1980s – all reimagined in deadstock materials. Vanessa meanwhile wore the original ‘Brise’ dress from the Autumn-Winter 1983-84 collection.

You can now see the original versions of these Chloé designs on display at the retrospective, each communicates in its own unique way Lagerfeld’s couture savoir-faire and his aptitude for combining a panoply of references, from classical design to surrealism.​
