No country leans into servile pomp like the United Kingdom. This past weekend marked the crowning of brand new (but still relatively old) monarch King Charles III – brother of Prince Andrew – who took over from the Queen in a ceremony that reportedly cost the British taxpayer £100 million.⁠

To celebrate handing their cash to an already incredibly wealthy family, much of the British public traveled to the streets outside Buckingham Palace, where they waited in the pissing rain to honor Charles being passed his crown.
