One of the greatest lessons I learned from those stories is that being able to have a career as an artist has everything to do with supporting your community.⁣ ⁣ Our future and the future of this business RELIES on community.⁣ ⁣ Right now, the industry is at a historic crossroads because it has become increasingly difficult to make a consistent, reliable living as a storyteller. So if you have dreams of supporting yourself with your work, know that there will be many steps, but the first one is to know your future as a creative is directly connected to this moment with the #WGAStrike.⁣ ⁣ And this is where the history of labor movements come into play (and I’ll be sharing specific resources in my newsletter this weekend), because being a storyteller is a practice AND a career.
