정 현(b.1956, Chung Hyun)은 인간과 물질에 내재된 생명력을 조각 언어로 찾아가는 작가이다. 철길을 지탱하던 폐침목, 철근, 아스팔트, 석탄 찌꺼기 콜타르 등 쓸모(생명력)를 다한 산업 폐기물을 작업의 재료로 사용한다. 작가는 연필 드로잉, 녹 드로잉, 콜타르 드로잉 등을 바탕으로 조각을 완성해 나간다. 1990년대 후반부터 침목을 주재료를 사용하여 형상은 거칠게 생략하되 나무의 질긴 물질성을 그대로 드러내 재료가 지탱해온 시간과 생명력을 극대화한다.

Chung Hyun (b.1956) is an artist who tries to find the vitality inherent in humans and matter in sculpture language. Industrial wastes, such as abandoned sleeper that once supported the railroad tracks, rebar, asphalt, and coal residue coal tar etc. are used as materials for his art work. The artist completes the sculpture based on pencil drawing, rust drawing, and coal tar drawing. Since the late 1990s, the shape of sleepers has been used for his main material, but the shape has been omitted roughly and tough material properties of trees have been revealed to maximize the time and vitality that they have kept.
