He started living in Japan at the age of 3 and spent his later years in Karuizawa.
He learned oil painting from Seiki Kuroda at the age of 11, and Japanese painting from Terukata Ikeda and Shoen Sakakibara at the age of 13. The quality of his ukiyo-e paintings when he was 14 is very high.
After that, he moved from place to place in Micronesia, Ainu, Korea, Manchuria, China, etc., deepening exchanges with people in Asia. He draws large figures in ukiyo-e prints that capture the characteristics and daily lives of these people. All of them are eye-catching.
Ukiyo-e, which is also used for posters, is his proud masterpiece. I was fascinated by the details of the clothing pattern.

3歳から日本に住み始め、晩年は軽井沢に住んでいた。
11歳の時、黒田清輝から油彩画を、13歳で池田輝方、榊原蕉園から日本画を学んだ。彼が14歳の時に描いた浮世絵肉筆画のクオリティはとても高い。
彼はその後、ミクロネシア、アイヌ、朝鮮、満州、中国などを転々とし、アジアの人々と交流を深めていった。その人達の特徴や日常を捉え、浮世絵で人物を大きめに描いている。どれも華やかな色彩で、目が印象的。
ポスターにも採用されている「打ち明け話の相手」は、彼の自慢の傑作だそうで、細かに表現されている衣服の柄に目を惹いた。
