Louis Siriès was one of the most admired gem-engravers and goldsmiths of his day. Examples of Siriès’ talent and craftmanship as a goldsmith are rare—in fact, only six gold and hardstone snuff boxes signed by him are known today.

Made by Siriès circa 1745, this gold and lapis lazuli presentation box has been in the collection of a European Royal family since at least the early 19th century and has never been seen in public before. Sotheby’s specialist @microcosms_of_beauty joins us to highlight the details.
