Fashion critic and collector @alexfury worked with @daphneguinness to select looks from her rich archive, including Alexander McQueen, Gucci, Jean Paul Gaultier and much more, for her latest Nick Knight-directed music video ‘Hip, Neck, Spine’. To celebrate SHOWstudio’s accompanying project ‘Drawing Daphne’, where a selection of Guinness’ looks from the video are on display in our London studio from Friday 14 July until September, alongside a host of fashion illustrations depicting the musician and creative matriarch, here Fury breaks down 10 looks from the music video.
Partly inspired by Classical Hollywood cinema and in particular, Marlene Dietrich, Fury discusses the origins of each unique look and Guinness’ transforming visual identity, including designs by McQueen and one-of-a-kind Chanel haute couture. Watch the video essay in full on SHOWstudio.com
