Many of you know, have read, or heard about the Twin homes on Commerce St. Those living here know about the tale …a rather fun tale actually. The story reads that a sea captain bought two homes, one each for his feuding daughters and there’s a garden in between the homes. The sea captain thought that by creating this little environment, his daughters will eventually get along. I LOVE this story…not factual with historic archives but fun! The home was built by a New Jersey milkman name Jacob Huyler. He never lived in the homes, he used it as a rental. One of the people renting it was listed as a sea captain! The home originally was two stories high and it’s still standing today, so beautiful and picturesque! Like something you find in a fairytale book! Hope you enjoyed a little snip of history! 😊
